ASCII code (decimal)
Replace every character with its number in the computer table: A is 65, B is 66, a is 97.

How it works
- 1A computer gives every character a number. Capital A is 65, B is 66 … Z is 90.
- 2Lowercase letters start at 97: a is 97, b is 98. A space is 32.
- 3Write the numbers one after another, separated by a space or comma: AZ is 65 90.
- 4Accented letters take two numbers: č is 196 141.
- 5To decode, look up each number in the ASCII table.
Example
HELLO
72 69 76 76 79
Did you know
ASCII was first published in 1963 by the American Standards Association (now ANSI). It has 128 characters, 95 of them printable, and no accents. For other languages we now use UTF-8, sketched in September 1992 by Ken Thompson and Rob Pike; its first 128 characters match ASCII, which is why A is still 65.

This message is encrypted with ASCII code (decimal) using the default settings:
67 79 68 69 83 32 65 82 69 32 78 85 77 66 69 82 83
Hint
Capital letters start at 65 (A). A space is 32.
